Building Trust Through Action: Supporting Law Enforcement Around the World

Learn how OKX's team of experienced investigators, our global partnerships, and proactive intelligence help protect customers and strengthen the digital asset ecosystem.

Over the past year, we've shared how we're investing in compliance, governance and security as part of our long-term commitment to building one of the world's most trusted digital asset platforms.

In Building Trust Through Action and Deepening Trust Through Partnership, we outlined the principles that guide our approach: investing in people, technology and partnerships to help create a safer, more resilient crypto ecosystem.

Today, we're sharing another example of what those principles look like in practice.Since March 2026, OKX has joined forces with the Singapore Police Force Anti-Scam Centre and Cyber Investigation Branch (SPF-ASC ). SPF-ASC shares actionable intel with various law enforcement agencies around the globe, including the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Cybercrime Squad of the New South Wales Police Force, Australia, as part of a series of coordinated anti-scam operations to help identify scam victims and prevent them from incurring further losses. Over the course of four joint operations between March and August 2026, the Singapore Police Force and participating digital asset service providers prevented almost S$19 million in potential losses, protecting more than 720 potential scam victims.

“As scams continue to grow in sophistication and scale, the combination of the police’s investigative and technical capabilities, support from leading cryptocurrency exchanges and cooperation with foreign law enforcement agencies, has been effective in detecting scam activities early and protecting members of the public from financial harm,” offered the Singaporean Police Force. The operation is an excellent example of how modern financial crime is fought: not by any one organisation acting alone, but through trusted partnerships between law enforcement, responsible exchanges and blockchain intelligence specialists.Because OKX understands that trust isn't built through statements - it's built through action.

Fighting financial crime is a global effort

Digital assets move across borders in seconds. Criminal networks do too. That means protecting customers requires more than strong internal controls. It requires close collaboration between trusted exchanges, blockchain intelligence providers and law enforcement agencies around the world. This also means that traders and consumers must be vigilant when it comes to the crypto venues they choose to trust. Many may state that they're licensed or registered to offer crypto services. But on closer inspection, it may become clear that the services they're "allowed" to offer, aren't the ones that are actually pushed via their app. For example, an exchange that is licensed to trade basic assets with immediate settlement (also known as a spot market), may not be eligible to offer derivatives like futures or swaps. But as we're seeing, too many exchanges are using regulatory backdoors to offer unlicensed products that look and feel like they're licensed offerings. For customers, this creates a number of risks, primarily - but certainly not limited to - increased counterparty risk, and perhaps more importantly, little to no legal recourse if their venue of choice is the victim of a hack or unscrupulous operators.

At OKX, supporting legitimate law enforcement investigations is as much a part of our responsibility as a global platform as our rigorous transparency reports are.Our Special Investigations and Intelligence (SII) team works every day with agencies across multiple jurisdictions to identify illicit activity, trace stolen assets, support investigations and, where legally appropriate, freeze assets connected to criminal conduct. While many of these investigations never become public, the collective impact is significant.

Over the past two years alone, our work has supported investigations spanning North America, Europe, Asia and Africa - demonstrating both the global nature of financial crime and the importance of coordinated international responses.

Built by investigators who have done the job

The effectiveness of any investigations programme depends on the people behind it.That's why we've invested heavily in building one of the industry's strongest investigative leadership teams.Earlier this year, we welcomed Diana Miller as our Global Head of Litigation, Regulatory Enforcement and Investigations. Diana brings decades of experience leading complex regulatory investigations and enforcement matters at some of the world's largest financial institutions, strengthening our ability to work effectively with regulators and law enforcement agencies across jurisdictions.

"Trust is earned through consistent action. For us, that means investing in experienced people, maintaining strong governance and working constructively with regulators and law enforcement around the world. Customers should expect the platforms they use to meet the highest standards of integrity and to play an active role in protecting the broader financial ecosystem."

— Diana Miller, Global Head of Litigation, Regulatory Enforcement and Investigations

Alongside Diana is Jared Der-Yeghiayan, Director of Investigations, whose career includes more than 17 years as a U.S. Department of Homeland Security Special Agent leading some of the world's most significant cybercrime and cryptocurrency investigations. His experience investigating criminal networks from inside government provides unique expertise that helps bridge public and private sector collaboration.Together, they lead a multidisciplinary team of investigators, intelligence analysts, former law enforcement professionals and financial crime specialists dedicated to protecting customers and supporting legitimate investigations worldwide.

"Having spent much of my career investigating cyber-enabled crime from within law enforcement, I've seen first-hand how important responsible industry partners can be. Today, that same mission continues at OKX. We work alongside investigators around the world to help identify illicit activity, preserve evidence and support actions that make the entire digital asset ecosystem safer."

— Jared Der-Yeghiayan, Director of Investigations

Protecting customers starts long before funds move

One misconception about financial crime in crypto is that enforcement begins only after an incident occurs. In reality, prevention is equally important.

OKX continues to invest in advanced transaction monitoring, blockchain analytics, artificial intelligence and specialist investigative capabilities designed to identify suspicious activity before criminal proceeds can move further through the ecosystem.

That commitment extends beyond our own platform. As a Founding Partner of the Beacon Network - the first real-time cryptocurrency crime response network bringing together law enforcement agencies and vetted private-sector partners - we're helping build a faster, more coordinated approach to disrupting illicit activity. By enabling trusted participants to rapidly share intelligence on suspicious wallets and transactions, the network helps block off-ramps for criminal funds before they can be cashed out.

This proactive approach enables our teams to identify patterns, trace blockchain activity across multiple wallets and exchanges, and share actionable intelligence with law enforcement and trusted industry partners when appropriate. But technology alone isn't enough. The best outcomes come from combining sophisticated analytics with experienced investigators who understand how criminal organisations operate, with trusted partnerships that allow intelligence to be shared and acted upon quickly across jurisdictions.

Context matters

Financial crime is not unique to any one technology or financial system. The overwhelming majority of illicit finance continues to move through traditional channels, including cash and the banking system, while illicit activity represents only a tiny fraction of cryptocurrency transactions. Independent blockchain analytics consistently find that more than 99 percent of on-chain activity is legitimate.

That broader context does not make illicit activity in crypto any less important to address. It underscores the responsibility of exchanges like OKX to invest in compliance, investigations and security — and to use the transparency and traceability of blockchain technology to identify suspicious activity, follow the movement of funds and support law enforcement in pursuing criminals.

Customers deserve platforms that don't simply facilitate transactions. They deserve platforms that actively work to protect the broader ecosystem. Choosing where to trade and custody digital assets matters. Platforms that invest in governance, transparency, experienced investigators and constructive relationships with regulators and law enforcement help make the entire industry stronger.

Building trust through action

As the crypto ecosystem continues to mature and becomes an increasingly important part of the global financial system, expectations around governance, customer protection and financial crime controls will continue to rise.We welcome that evolution. At OKX, we believe trust is earned through consistent action—not marketing slogans.Whether supporting complex international investigations, investing in experienced leadership, or building technology that helps detect illicit activity before it spreads, our objective remains the same:

  • To protect our customers.

  • To support legitimate law enforcement efforts wherever we operate.

  • To help build a digital asset ecosystem that is safer, more transparent and worthy of the trust millions of people place in it every day.

Turning intelligence into action

The timeline accompanying this article highlights just some of the investigations where OKX supported law enforcement over the past two years. These cases span multiple continents, investigative agencies and criminal typologies, from investment fraud and pig butchering scams, to organised money laundering and Ponzi schemes.Among them:

Each investigation is different. Some begin with intelligence developed internally through our monitoring systems. While others originate from requests received from law enforcement agencies. In every case, our objective is the same: respond quickly, support legitimate investigations and help protect victims wherever possible.
