Who can access X-Perps?
What do I need to complete before I can trade X-Perps?
Access to X-Perps depends on three things:
Identity verification (KYC) completed
The appropriateness assessment completed
No account-level restrictions or open compliance checks on your account
If you're missing one of the three, the app or the web platform prompts you for the step it's waiting on.
What is the appropriateness assessment, and why do I have to complete it?
Before you can trade X-Perps, you must complete an appropriateness assessment. This is a regulatory requirement under MiFID rules, designed to help you understand the risks involved in trading leveraged derivative products before you begin. If you don't pass the assessment, you'll need to wait a period of time before you can retake it.
Based on the assessment, you'll be classified as either retail or professional. The product offering is identical for both classifications.
What does the assessment cover?
The appropriateness assessment evaluates your understanding of leveraged derivatives, including how they work and the risks involved. It's a one-time process that you complete within OKX before gaining access to X-Perps.
What happens if I don't pass the appropriateness assessment?
If you don't pass the appropriateness assessment, a waiting period is applied to your account automatically before you can retake it. The date and time you can next retry are shown on your account, so check there rather than counting the days yourself. Customer support can't shorten that waiting period, reset it, or give you access to X-Perps while it's running. When the waiting period ends, open the assessment again from the same Futures entry point you used the first time and complete it. Answer each question based on your own knowledge and experience of leveraged derivatives.
Why availability may vary?
X-Perps are complex, leveraged products and may be subject to different rollout timelines, compliance requirements, or operational conditions depending on your region. This means access may not be enabled at the same time in every EEA country, even though all 30 are supported.
How do I check whether X-Perps are enabled for my account?
The most reliable way to confirm your eligibility is through the OKX app or web platform, where you can typically see:
Whether X-Perps are available for your account
Prompts for any required setup steps, including the appropriateness assessment
Applicable notices or restrictions

Why is X-Perps activation or an account-mode switch blocked?
Activating X-Perps or switching your account mode can be blocked while your account still holds activity tied to its current setup. The most common examples are open positions, open orders that haven't been filled, and trading bots that are still running: Close the positions, cancel the orders, and stop the bots, then try again. Those examples aren't a complete list. The steps your own account needs are listed in the message shown on screen when the action is blocked, so work through the ones you can see there and retry activation or the mode switch afterwards. Customer support can't complete these steps for you or skip them.
Is the appropriateness assessment the same for retail and professional users?
Yes. Both retail and professional users complete the same assessment. The classification may affect certain regulatory protections, but the X-Perps product offering is identical for both.
Do I need to complete KYC before the appropriateness assessment?
Yes. You must complete identity verification (KYC) before you can access the appropriateness assessment or trade X-Perps.
Why is my account mode change blocked?
Applies to: changing your account mode while you hold positions, open orders or running bots.
A mode change needs a clean starting state, because your open positions and open orders are margined under the mode you're leaving. Close your open positions, cancel your open orders, and stop your running bots, then work through any remaining items the product lists for you.
If the prompt is blank, or the items it lists have already been cleared, send Support the exact message you see and a screenshot of it. That message is what identifies which item the change is still waiting on.
How do I move funds after changing my trading mode?
Applies to: moving funds between your Funding account and your Trading account.
Go to Assets > Transfer, choose the accounts to move between, enter the amount, and confirm.
If the transfer is blocked, keep the exact error message and send it to Support. The message identifies which restriction is holding the transfer, which is what's needed to diagnose it — retrying without it tends to produce the same result.
Important note: X-Perps are leveraged derivatives. Leverage can amplify both gains and losses, and losses may occur rapidly. These products may not be suitable for all investors.
