About AnthropicIPODelayed

Anthropic reportedly plans to delay its IPO from Oct to Nov, possibly until after the US midterm elections, though timing remains unconfirmed. Annualized revenue is expected to exceed $100B by year-end, up from about $65B in late Jul, as compute capacity expands to ~5 GW. Some investors see a potential valuation of about $2T. The listing would test whether rapid growth can support heavy capital spending and a premium valuation, with final timing, pricing and revenue growth in focus.

#AnthropicIPODelayed Anthropic may be choosing timing over speed 👀 Its IPO could slip from October to November as annualized revenue reportedly races from ~$65B toward $100B and compute capacity expands to ~5 GW. What caught my attention is the rumored ~$2T valuation. At that level, investors won't just be buying growth. They'll be betting that massive compute spending eventually produces massive cash flow. A delay buys Anthropic time. It also raises the bar.

Not just usage, but actual dollar spend for Anthropic is also steadily declining 👇 Imagine planning a $2 trillion IPO when you want to slow down as you are losing market share 🤡

Looks like today may be a record day for token volume % of open models on Vercel AI Gateway: 🟦 Open 78.4% 🟨 Closed 21.6% While spend 💲 usually tells a different story, #3 and #4 today are Moonshot AI & DeepSeek. Adding Z.ai, their combined spend surpasses OpenAI (#2). (Do note that's the spend for inference of the model across providers (mostly in the US), not revenue going directly to the open weight labs.)

Love @FT risk factors for Anthropic IPO, but they missed a few: 1) LLM architecture does not lead to intelligence. Too many errors. 2) No general purpose architectre has won for 30 years. 3) Industry spent $1.4T b4 commoditizing infrastructure 4) Most of 10 AI vendors will fail

The FT today lists three primary risk factors that could threaten Anthropic's remarkable revenue growth ahead of its IPO: 1. Additional competition from closed and open providers 2. Increasingly price sensitive customers 3. The potential for AI to destroy humanity

This doesn't add up. Anthropic is reportedly preparing a new AI model to counter OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra, per Reuters. Meanwhile, its CEO Dario Amodei publicly called for the entire AI industry to slow down just one week ago. Anthropic is also reportedly targeting the LARGEST IPO in history at a $2 TRILLION valuation, looking to raise up to $100 BILLION.

Anthropic's reported IPO delay matters less than the numbers investors eventually see. Annualized revenue is expected to climb from about $65B in late July to above $100B by year-end as compute capacity reaches roughly 5 GW, but that expansion also sharpens the focus on capital intensity. At a potential $2T valuation, even exceptional growth would leave little room for disappointment. Timing remains unconfirmed. #AnthropicIPODelayed

Anthropic might be about to pull off one of the biggest IPOs ever. According to the WSJ, the company is planning to go public as soon as November, despite ongoing concerns around AI safety and how quickly these models are being deployed. The numbers being discussed are insane: → Potential $2 TRILLION valuation → Could raise as much as $100 BILLION in the offering → Expected to surpass $110 BILLION in annualized revenue by year-end For context, Anthropic was still considered one of OpenAI’s smaller competitors not that long ago. Now it could enter the public markets as one of the most valuable companies on earth. And if those revenue numbers hold, the speed at which AI companies are scaling might be unlike anything we’ve seen in tech before. An Anthropic IPO at $2T would be a massive moment for the entire AI industry.

Anth showed anxieties from this “slow down”: Today it delayed the IPO and announced the partnership with Accenture: Seems like they are raising the urgency to gaining the enterprise revenue to avoid showing a mediocre growth number in the IPO.

Yipit's data shows lame Anth's ARR at $70B vs. $65B last month, with MoM growth down from $8B to $5B. Meanwhile, OAI is accelerating at $43B ARR and $5B MoM. This doesn't even count the fast adoption of astra as it launched after. OAI's talent profile and AI capex moat will help them retake the throne of enterprise market and surpass Anth ARR pretty soon. My guess is Mr. Dario will be forced to resign as CEO before the IPO and take the chairman of board as a mascot.
